The Guide
A Bridge, a Cliff and a Forest Canopy on One Ticket
The park is self-guided and the shuttle is free, so for most visitors the tour is the ticket. A guided day only earns its price when it adds the city or Grouse Mountain.
A Capilano Suspension Bridge tour is, for most visitors, a self-guided day in Capilano Suspension Bridge Park in North Vancouver, and the way in is the park’s own day ticket. It is from US$56 a person on GetYourGuide, rated 4.8 from 2,935 reviews (checked October 2026): you pick an entry time, cross the bridge 70 m above the Capilano River, walk the Cliffwalk along the canyon wall and the Treetops Adventure between old Douglas-firs, and stay as long as you like. The park’s shuttle from downtown Vancouver is free. Its calendar is on this page.

What the ticket covers
Everything in the park is on the one ticket, and the park says most visitors spend two to three hours.
- The Suspension Bridge. 137 m (450 ft) long and 70 m (230 ft) above the Capilano River. George Grant Mackay built the first one of hemp rope and cedar planks in 1889; the bridge you cross was rebuilt in 1956. It moves under your feet, which is the point.
- The Cliffwalk. Opened in 2011, a cantilevered walkway with grated floors that runs 213 m along the granite cliff, up to about 90 m above the canyon.
- Treetops Adventure. Seven small suspension bridges strung between eight Douglas-firs about 250 years old, more than 33 m above the forest floor, built in 2004.
- Kia’palano and the Story Centre. Kia’palano is the park’s cultural centre about the Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish) and Tsleil-Waututh peoples, with poles by the carvers Wayne Carlick and James Lewis; the Story Centre covers the park’s history in about 10 to 15 minutes.
Food, parking and the gift shop are extra. The Cliffwalk and Treetops guide walks through each part, in the order most people do them.
A tour or just the ticket?
The park is not a guided attraction: nobody leads you across, and the daily talks by park guides are part of the ticket. With the free shuttle from Canada Place, the Hyatt Regency or the Blue Horizon hotel, the ticket alone is the whole trip for most people. A tour earns its price when it adds something you would not do easily on your own: a guided drive through Stanley Park, Granville Island and Gastown on the same day, or Grouse Mountain up the road. Tours give you less time in the park, about an hour and a half on the city highlights tour, so if you want the bridge, the Cliffwalk and the Treetops without hurrying, go on your own. Capilano bridge tickets sets out the park’s prices and the BC residents’ annual pass.
When to go
The park is open every day of the year except 25 December, rain or shine. Its hours change through the season: 10 am to 8 pm from 9 October to 1 November 2026, 10 am to 5 pm from 2 to 19 November, and 11 am to 9 pm during Canyon Lights, from 20 November 2026 to 10 January 2027, when the bridge, the Cliffwalk and the Treetops are lit after dark. You may stay an hour past closing. Entry is timed, in 30-minute slots at weekends and on holidays and hourly on weekdays, so a summer weekend is when booking ahead matters most. The Canyon Lights guide covers the winter evenings.
Getting there
The park is at 3735 Capilano Road in North Vancouver. The free shuttle takes about 20 minutes from Canada Place, by the park’s own timetable, and needs no reservation; show your ticket for the ride back. On the 9 October to 1 November 2026 timetable the last bus back leaves the park at 9 pm, or 9:30 pm on the late-opening Halloween dates (23 to 25 October and 30 October to 1 November); later timetables follow the park’s hours. By transit, take the SeaBus from Waterfront to Lonsdale Quay, about 12 minutes, then bus 236. Parking at the park is CA$9 for up to three hours and fills at busy times. Getting to the bridge has the shuttle stops, the bus and the fares.
Capilano or Lynn Canyon?
Lynn Canyon Park, about 7.5 km east by road, has a suspension bridge 50 m above its own canyon, and it is free. It is shorter, has no Cliffwalk or treetop bridges, and the walk to it is through a busy forest park. If the bridge itself is all you want and money is tight, go to Lynn Canyon. Capilano against Lynn Canyon sets out what each one gives you.
Grouse Mountain the same day
The Grouse Mountain Skyride starts about 3.6 km up Capilano Road from the bridge, and bus 236 continues there. Mountain admission covers the gondola up and the grizzly bear habitat, and its summer shows close for the winter; the lumberjack show is closed for the season and back in summer 2027. Grouse Mountain and Capilano covers the ticket, the combined tours and the Grouse Grind.
The rest of a Vancouver trip
A morning at the bridge leaves the afternoon free. Whale watching boats leave from the city for the Salish Sea, and vancouverwhalewatchingtour.com explains the season and the boats. Victoria is a long day by ferry or floatplane, and vancouvertovictoriadaytrip.com works out what fits. One day in Vancouver puts the bridge into a full day.
Where to stay
The shuttle stops are all downtown, near Canada Place and on Robson Street, so a hotel there puts the bridge 20 minutes away. North Vancouver, around Lonsdale Quay, is closer to the park and to Grouse Mountain.
